Dinner and a Movie - February 23
On Saturday, February 23 at 5:00 p.m, the Goodfellows will present the classic movie "One Foot in Heaven" starring Frederic March and Martha Scott. The movie is about a Methodist minister and his wife, who changes his medical school education to become a minister. The adjustment to their new life is initially more difficult than they ever imagined, especially becoming more accustomed to their new poor economic standing of "a man of the cloth", in-lieu of that of a doctor. Other adjustments such as not having their life wholly being their own, but rather that of their congregation, as Fr. William has the focus of this decision on which to drive his purpose. The story is about the trials and tribulations of a new priest entering into a pre-existing parish where the congregation has their own way of doing things. Ultimately, they settle into one place that they can call home to provide them, and especially the children, with a sense of belonging; and where Fr. William would like to accomplish for his work in the name of God.
Dinner will be served at 5:00 p.m. in the Undercroft, consisting of Spaghetti & Meatballs with homemade sauce, and it will be served with salad, followed by coffee and dessert.
