Holy Land Pilgrimage – 2014

Welcome

Thanks for your interest in a 2015 pilgrimage to the Holy Land, where pilgrims will have the opportunity to walk in the steps of Jesus.  It’s a life-changing trip!!!  I first visited the Holy Land during a sabbatical in 2004.  It was the two-week “The Palestine of Jesus,” offered by St. George’s College, Jerusalem.  It was a life-changing experience for me.  In addition to my relationship with God changing, my reading of the Bible has been greatly enriched.

Following my 2004 pilgrimage, I’ve had the blessing of taking some of our parish youth to the Holy Land three different times (part of their Holy Pilgrimage in the Journey to Adulthood program).  Every time these young pilgrims have returned back to St. Martin’s, I would hear adults say, “What a wonderful trip.  See how God has made a difference in the lives of these young people.  I’d love to have a chance to go.”

Itinerary

So I decided to organize such a pilgrimage.  We would depart Buffalo on Friday, November 6, 2015.  Our return flight would depart Tel Aviv on Monday, November 16, arriving back in Buffalo on either Monday or Tuesday (depending on 2015 airline schedules).  To see the proposed itinerary, along with my own notes about the various sites we will be visiting, look at “itinerary” on the Tab.  This itinerary is not cast in stone.  It may have minor modifications prior to our departure, and it may be further modified after our arrival in the Holy Land.

Cost

Detailed information about the price of the trip is available at “Financial information” on the Tab.  The cost for our on-the-ground time in the Holy Land is $1710 per person.  It is too early to have any definite information on airline schedules and fare for 2015.  Included in this link is current information (as ofAugust, 2014) on schedules and fares for November of 2014.  That’s the best we can do now.  We will be making firm decisions in early 2015.

Guide

In 2004 I met Iyad Qumri, who helped with the guiding in “The Palestine of Jesus.”  He’s a great guide, and is highly regarded.  He frequently leads pilgrimages related to the American Friends of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem.  To see his website, go to www.iyadqumripilgrimages.com.  Iyad also has a short document on preparing for pilgrimages to the Holy Land, available by clicking “Guide Information” on the Tab.

Photos

If you’re interested in seeing some photos of the places that we will be visiting a PowerPoint presentation is available by clicking “Photos” on the Tab.

Thanks for your interest.  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at 716-773-3335 (Church) or at padreking@aol.com.  If you have a group nearby to me, I’d be glad to speak to your group about this pilgrimage.
